Quite frankly, I have dawdled in selecting the Besst of March. Mostly because I didn’t think there was going to be a lot to like here, and I was not looking forward to picking through the bones of the month deciding which one was least noxious.
Imagine my surprise this morning when, fortified by coffee and resolve, I ran through the neglected crisper drawer of my memory (aka This Blog) and found so many cool things I still don’t know which one was the besst. It’s a very long list, so bear with me!
Right out of the chute, we have The One Where I Get Lectured On Not Everything Looking Perfect All The Time, and I spontaneously generated what I think is an awesome quote that sums up The Year of Besst perfectly and far as I can tell is original to me: “Your life is what you remember. I hope you’re remembering the good stuff.” I’m gonna copyright that one, and charge a quarter every time it’s used, like Pat Riley and ‘threepeat.’
Next up, we have The One With the Fitbit, where I started exercising more, which is not always saying much, since I could have doubled my exercise by walking upstairs twice. But this day was important to me because it kicked off a love affair/grudge match with my Fitbit and the Pact people: for the last four weeks, I have gotten in a daily 10,000 steps at least five times each week.
Then we have The One With The Really Good Weekend. Two days of nothing but net.
It’s not every day the Universe smacks you upside the head and forcibly reminds you that you need to be careful what you think about. For that reason, The One With The Cosmic Gibby makes the list.
It is extremely difficult to shop for Dad, Interrupted. There’s a whole backstory here I won’t trouble you with, but The One With The Birthday Present stands as testimony to the fact that at least once in twenty years I was able to pull this off right.
********
I don’t even know where to start with this one, but here goes. The all-around great weekend was well, great, but not for any one thing. I’m pulling it for lack of standoutiveness. (Another word I’m copyrighting)
The quote is awesome, but it’s not an event. Yer out.
I think I’m going to have to declare a tie:
Normally, The One With The Birthday Present would have won, because it’s the one that’s about someone I love, not me, and that is always a tiebreaker element.
But The One With The Fitbit is profound, in that I did something I did not think I could make myself do, and its effects are far-reaching.
And I’m still reeling from the The One With The Gibby.
Who the heck knew that March was going to be that good?
