Possibly.

So, last night I posted this, and managed to accomplish this:

In bed at 10:32 and lay there reading until 10:49, which is when I turned off the light and turned over. Normally I would have been in bed at 11 and would have read until 11:30.

If a “1” on the Energy Meter is looking for a gas oven and a “10” means I’m ready to wrestle an elephant, I’ll give myself a 6. I could still sleep more, but I’m not dragging my mental butt. Not bad: I think I’ve been scoring a 3 recently and it has taken me quite a bit of time in the morning to get my game face on. Worse still: I’ve been waking up on the weekend at that level and have been not wanting to work on much-needed home improvement.

My goal for tonight: on the pillow at 10 p.m. with fifteen minutes of reading. This is not as simple as it seems…one of the reasons I go to bed late is that frequently I don’t get home from work until 7 or so, and I resent walking in, eating, doing my chores and then almost immediately having to go to bed. I’m going to have to steel myself to not do my chores, if necessary. I think the payoff will be I’ll be more likely to do some in the morning.

Coincidentally, we’re in a very light week food-prep-and-dinner-wise, so there will be less to do or supervise. (You didn’t think I did all those chores myself, did you? Of course not! As Henry Fonda said in “On Golden Pond”….”What’s the point of having dwarves if they won’t do any chores?”)

So, since I’m an analyst, I think I’ll be seeing a graph in my future, correlating my bed times and Energy Meter readings. Isn’t that exciting? (Admit it: you want to see the graph.)
