3 30 laners award

The good friend in this case is the wonderful photographer, Ben Arnold, and he isn’t in the picture because he took this lovely photo of part of our family when the oldest Daughter, Interrupted won a Major Award in her senior year of high school.

So Laner wins an award, and there’s a dinner where she’s going to get the award. We’re all going to go, even the Grandparents, Interrupted, with the exception of the Sons, Interrupted, for whom this would be a bit of a stretch.

So we show up at this event and I’m feeling a little shy when we walk in, to the point where I want to go hide in the ladies’ room for the evening, when I see the husband of one of my dearest friends taking pictures everywhere. He’s a professional photographer, so the pictures part is understandable, but why is he HERE?

Because he belongs to the organization giving the award and because Laner’s last name is different than mine it didn’t dawn on him that he was taking pictures of my daughter, since he hadn’t seen her since she was very young (we live pretty far apart, my dearest friends and I).

Ben is a great guy, but he really outdid himself that evening. He made sure we were seated next to him and introduced us like we were celebrities.

I’ll never forget how kind he was that night. I really felt special. And making people feel special is one of Ben’s specialties.

What the heck is she doing now?
