kids at george

Easter’s coming up; I have a ham.

To understand this picture, you need to understand a few things. First, my brother is a photographer. Second, my son is incapable of having his picture taken without cheesing it up. Third, I think that my daughters are really very patient. At no point did they try to wrestle Hammy McHamerson to the ground to get him to calm down.

I think Sam is almost three or so in this picture, which means that the youngest Kid, Interrupted has not yet joined us. My brother called me from his home, mere minutes from ours, to let me know that he had a portrait studio set up at his home and would I like to bring the kids over to get their pictures taken?

Of course I said yes. George is good, and very generous. So off we went, and he good-naturedly humored the CheezIt King and reeled off a series of pictures.

We went home and tried to get Sam to take a nap. George picked up the phone and asked one of his neighbors if she’d like to bring her daughter over for some pictures. She did.

Fast forward thirteen years. Sam falls in love with a girl who attends his local high school. He starts dating her and when he goes to her home? He finds pictures of his new girlfriend from years before, taken when she was about two or so, surrounded by stuffed animals and snapped one warm summer day by her very kind neighbor, George.

What the heck is she doing now?
