Years ago, I befriended a woman I ‘met’ on an internet chat board. Melinda was awesome…friendly, exuberant, kind.

When she had heard enough of me complaining about never getting to go on a vacation, she took my profile picture from the chat board, pasted it digitally over pictures of her on vacation, and sent me a slide show.

She lives across the country, and we used to talk on the phone frequently. She would call me just as I was picking up the Sons, Interrupted from school, and they loved her, too, as she frequently talked me out of punishing them for various non-performance issues (frequently of the ‘didn’t do homework’ variety) as I drove them home.

Life has intervened, and we don’t talk as much as we used to. Except that yesterday we talked all the way home from our respective jobs.

Let’s not let so much time go by again, Melinda.

What is the Besst project?

And why is it called Besst?
