Truth is, I’m not exactly disappearing, as much as I wish I could some days.
No, the truth is this: when I started this project, I used as my metaphor the concept of ‘looking for the pony’: pawing through the the remains of the day (is that what that phrase means?) and finding the best thing in what might be a pile of…remains.
Little did I know that I was previewing the Summer of 2014: What I’ve been doing for the past weeks is pawing through the remains of twenty years, weeding out the…remains, and then finding a home for the pony, as it were. Note to self: don’t do this every twenty years, or your head will explode. The pile is just insane.
So that’s what I did this weekend, wrapped around some other things. Hear now The Besst:
– Friday: if Thursday was a big ol’ cat metaphor, then Friday was spent cleaning out the litter box and buying new cat toys. Because I really do like my cats. (It’s worth noting that I like cats, even though I’m very allergic to them. Not sure what that says about my metaphor.)
– Saturday: a three hour Skype chat with one of the Best Friends, Interrupted. We talk every Saturday morning but even for us, three hours is epic.
– Sunday: saw the Dad, Interrupted (emeritus) for a nice visit, and made good on my Father’s Day promise to Dad, Interrupted The Younger: pawed through his remains and made decisions about store, keep, donate.
