I’d say that ‘sleeping in’ was the besst part of Monday, but ‘sleeping in’ for me means I wake up at 6 a.m.
I’d say that going to visit IKEA for the second time in two days was the besst thing (and many of you might agree) but while I love the stuff at IKEA, I cannot abide the crowds at IKEA. I get tired of looking at the stuff and then I want out, but it’s freaking impossible. Everyone is wandering around…if you’re on a mission (you want one thing, you’re trying to get to the thing, or you have secured the thing and now you just want to pay for it) the entire episode is miserable. I am regularly reduced to almost-tears of frustration in there as I just want to move and everyone is standing around in the aisles, sedated by Swedish meatballs and Benno storage units.
I like my new room. It’s very comfy, thanks to Dad, Interrupted, and surprisingly quiet, given that it’s sandwiched between the boys’ rooms. We’re still working on making the bathroom we’ll share with these guys a destination, a task that pretty much has to be completed today, since walls are tumbling down today and my access to the old bathroom will become restricted very quickly.
Once again, I look forward to whatever it is that awaits the person who empties a lot of stuff out of their home. So far, this is working like a gigantic tube of toothpaste: we keep sorting stuff into piles of donate/store/move upstairs and push the piles to the appropriate destinations. It’s very satisfying.
I didn’t get to relax much yesterday, but as I worked I spent time contemplating those who never got the opportunity to take off their military uniform.
So there it is: I like my new room. The Besst of Monday, May 26.
