Saturday was one of those days when lots of good things happened…
– coffee with Jane! I didn’t even tell her this, but I was dog tired when I woke up. I had only gotten about five hours’ sleep and I was coming off the epic 24 hour journey from Thursday. I almost texted her and said, ‘maybe not today,’ but we had missed last week and so I fired up the Skype and I am so glad I did. Life is better with coffee with Jane.
– house to myself for several hours! Back in the day, all I ever wanted for Mother’s Day was the house to myself. That’s a rare commodity, seeing that ‘having the house to myself’ meant that the person who could give that to me (aka my husband) was rather leery of taking all four kids out by himself. And rightly so: my mother once astutely observed that taking them all out together was akin to ‘managing an anthill.’
You’d think that when the kids were older, having the house to yourself would be less attractive. Not so. And yesterday everyone was at work or at school activities and I…
– took a nap! ’nuff said.
– dinner out with Dad, Interrupted! I used to worry that we’d run out of things to talk about. hahahahahaha. Last night we spent four servings of sushi talking about Taoism. (It is instructive that one of my first, favorite toys was a doll named Chatty Cathy.)
Good times.
