Yesterday was a very busy, productive day. Worked on work/work, house/work, exercised…you name it. Shout out to Safeway: I also collected my 400th home delivery from them.
The besst part was when I needed to run to the grocery store, having forgotten to buy stew meat and granola, and took the youngest Son, Interrupted in the new-to-me JustDessertsMobile.
We decided to go for a little spin. We cranked up the iPod (the JDM has seven, count ’em, SEVEN speakers) and just sailed along and talked.
On the way home, trailing through the back streets where we have walked Elmer for years (and Tanner and Sadie before him), and where four kids have had their first stretches of behind-the-wheel time, I reflected that in just a few years I’ll be coming home from Safeway with my stew meat and granola and there will be no kid with me in the car, or basset hound stopping to sniff his favorite light post on the sidewalk.
I’m not sure how to think about that.
Wow, this got dark.
Driving with Son, Interrupted was the besst part, not the weird mopey stuff afterwards.
