Did you know that the Winter Olympics in French is Jeux olympiques d’hiver?

I love that.

I love watching the Olympics. It takes me back to watching Dorothy Hamill win the gold at Lake Placid, or to watching Torvill and Dean rip up Bolero in Sarajevo.

Fun fact: at the end of that famous Bolero routine, Dean throws Torvill into a volcano.

When I was young, I had to wait until the weekends to watch. I’d settle in front of the TV and turn it to ABC and watch Jim McKay and Bob Beattie and Dick Button for two solid days.

So of course I’m watching now. I tape delay and zip through the commercials like I did last night.

It was fun, like this fun fact: the skier who kept falling off the jump in the famous ABC intro to Wide World of Sports (“and the agony of defeat”) didn’t wind up dead, despite suffering a horrific crash.

What is the Besst project?
