Yesterday was a very nice day…slept in, watched the Olympics I had taped the night before so I got to speed through the commercials and interviews and other peripheral stuff (seriously: what did we do before fast forward?), had a great visit with the ‘rents, and then capped it off with an enjoyable evening with the youngest Son, Interrupted. He always makes me laugh, watches TV with me, and waltzes me around the family room if he thinks I need cheering up.
Side story to remember: the oldest Son, Interrupted works at a local grocery store. I went to pick him up with the aforesaid SI, and needed to buy some groceries. The following conversation ensued at the checkout line, while Oldest SI waited outside:
Me to Youngest SI: I wonder if Sam just gave up and walked home.
Clerk: You know Sam?
Me: I’m his mom, this is his brother.
Clerk: Oh. Neither one of you has red hair, so I didn’t catch that.
Me: Well, I used to be a redhead. I’m all gray now.
Clerk: Really? I would have said you’re a blond.
Me: Well, my hair was never as red as Sam’s…
The woman behind me in line: But nobody’s hair is as red as Sam’s.
Man behind me in line: Sam’s a rockstar.
???????
Seems that everyone at that store knows Sam. He stands out, of course; he’s tall, and has a wickedly funny personality and has violently red hair. I had no idea.
Well, I knew that he’s tall, and funny, and has the hair. I even knew about the rockstar part, as all four of the Kids, Interrupted are pretty rockstar-ry.
I had no idea that they were famous.
