This is gonna make me happy on so many levels.

This is the Besst on so many levels.

I left work on Friday at 6:30, after a long day that started some twelve hours earlier when I arrived at work at 6:30. There is a certain symmetry to my life now, as I kept that schedule all week long.

But I was excited about the weekend, because that was when the renovation of my kitchen would begin. Toward that end, Dad, Interrupted had promised that the kitchen would be emptied before he left for a Scout ski trip with Youngest Son, Interrupted on Friday afternoon.

So please look at the picture above and imagine every appliance you own, and maybe every dish you own, on the countertop above.

When I left the house in the wee hours of Friday morning, that image is what the kitchen looked like.

When I got home after 7 pm…

…it still looked like that.  If our contractor was going to be able to do his work, I was going to have to finish the job.

I was unamused.

But Sam offered to do it. And he did. The most effort I had to employ was shouting to find him when the contractor and I kept finding little Easter eggs of appliances and drawers full of parchment paper and unemptied dishwashers this morning. Sam cheerfully jumped up and did it all.

The picture above is also a dandy ‘before’ picture. The amazing contractor has already ripped it out and is almost done hanging the cabinets. I’ll keep you posted as events warrant.

Another awesome thing that happened yesterday evening was when a family friend let me know that The Daily Besst on Facebook was a reminder to her to keep her own version of The Best Thing That Happened Today.

You know who you are, and thank you for sharing! Made my day.
