This day is a tough one to call, not because nothing decent happened today, but because nothing really stands out. Some of the nice things:

– that application we’re installing is getting closer and closer to taking its first steps, an accomplishment aided by the insane effort of about a million people for which I am deliriously grateful

– the executive demo we did showing off that li’l baby went well (i.e. I didn’t say anything insanely stupid or flash naked Star Trek pictures during the Webex, which is my lowest threshold of something like that going well)

– I heard from a former co-worker (whom I miss chatting with quite a bit) who thought of me when she saw a DIY show about the Nest thermostat, one of my boss Christmas presents

– got to go to Home Depot with Dad, Interrupted last night (which is one of my fave dates, and I don’t mean that sarcastically) and look at countertops and pick out a sink and an over-the-stove microwave to go with those bitchin’ cabinets

– at Home Depot, we looked at the countertop options and were distinctly underwhelmed at the possibilities and DI was quite surprised when I said I would like a metal countertop. And you can get copper countertops. Which would go nicely with everything else we have going on. And then everything clicked!

I would note here that I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or not, but since I’ve been running The Besst I have noticed that I have fewer days I would classify as sub-optimal, but the sheer act of noting it is going to guarantee that Friday is going to bite really hard, so I’m not going to say that.
