I used to cross stitch. A lot.
It was a handy thing to keep my hands busy while I watched TV, and I have pieces I worked thirty years ago that I still use today.
I pretty much gave it up years ago, because I hadn’t gotten bifocals yet and it strained my eyes something fierce to stitch and then change my focus. (Did you know you can feel your irises work to re-focus? Not pleasant.)
In the last week or so, though, I got the bug to get out my needles and floss again, and spent a pleasant few hours with Cole re-watching the first Harry Potter movie and stitching away.
Even though I’m going to have to re-work what I did (I managed to start the piece in the wrong direction, and it’s bugging me and I can’t see finishing the entire thing like that…it’ll drive me nuts) and even though I’ll have a new BOBD soon when we replace that DVD (it’s all chewed up), I had a good time.
Oh, here are two notes:
– re-reading the BOBDs so far has made me realize my life is pretty boring. I need to jazz that up so we all have something more interesting to read.
-I’m going to start calling this The Besst. I wish I’d thought of that earlier.
Remember to keep looking for the best thing about today!
