I can’t make this stuff up. I feel a little soiled even KNOWING it. If you’re link-phobic, I’d normally spell it out for you, but this story is making the breast milk ice cream look appealing, so just know that it involves yogurt samples at a health food supermarket that packed a little extra punch, courtesy of the dude handing out the samples.

So many jokes, so little time.

So what I’ll do is add a little personal human interest to this one. A co-worker who recently relocated to Albuquerque turned me on to this story, so to speak, and reported as the events unfolded. As you might expect, the local news media in Albuquerque have really jumped on this event and have been faithfully chronicling it to its logical climax, so to speak, which included many ‘on-the-scene’ reports that featured a TV reporter standing in front of the Sunflower Market dutifully reciting the seminal facts, so to speak, of the case.

My co-worker’s husband watched one of these reports and turned to her and said, “The store is really missing out on an opportunity here.”

How so? she asked.

“All these news reporters standing in front of the store and there are letters out on the sign. They’re missing some free advertising!”

Um, honey? With this story, they should either turn off that sign completely or hang up a Whole Foods sign.

So to speak.
